I did this last summer! Left a pair of earbuds on my keyboard and slammed it shut in a hurry without thinking.

Yep. Been there & done that. It's now a desk top. It sucks as it was nice to have my 'puter with me on the road.

for the price of an external monitor, you could buy a replacement lcd and have it back to new.. http://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/…

Fractal Art!! But seriously you have an aluminum bezel, thats the easiest to replace.
Step 1: get a lcd off ebay
step 2: remove display assembly at the hinge
step 3: Replace lcd
step 4: reverse step 2

Junior year for me. Laptop screen got KO'd by an errant airsoft bullet. Oops. Except mine was running Windows 98. Or was it Windows 2000/NT. I can never remember. You whippersnappers and your fancy operating systems...

Ouch, was a pen or something on the keyboard, or did something fall on the lid?
That will be tough to replace, I have a high resolution matte finish display myself, and you'll want to get a new bezel with the screen, because that shit will get really bent upon removal, and wont go back in. Don't forget the adhesive that holds it in place either.

You're not supposed to accidentally the whole laptop screen.
